Sarah Hornaday, founder of Grace Media, LLC and publisher of
TheAthleticsDepartment.com, announces a partnership with Carl Theiss to
begin a high school sports statistics service, The Athletics Department
Stats. The Athletics Department Stats debuts Fall 2020 with football.
Theiss and Hornaday plan to expand with more sports in the future.
Theiss is the longtime Texas High School Coaches Associate media
coordinator, former basketball official as well as working as a freelance
sports writer and broadcaster. The Baytown Lee graduate is a regular in
Houston-area press boxes and a fountain of Texas High School sports
history.
Theiss and Hornaday met through the Houston Chronicle, where
Hornaday was a reporter and editor in charge of high school sports coverage.
The Athletics Department Stats will provide weekly football statistics
reports to its media and school clients. The statistics are provided to The
Athletics Department Stats by the schools via a web interface and then
compiled by Hornaday and Theiss.
