Sarah Hornaday is the fourth generation of Hornadays to have a journalism career. She began her professional journalism career covering high school athletics in 1991 as a free-lance reporter for the Austin American-Statesman.
Hornaday’s newspaper journalism career included stops at The Brazosport Facts, Odessa American, Associated Press, Dallas Morning News and Houston Chronicle. She’s won awards including a regional and national Associated Press Sports Editor’s enterprise reporting award; Texas High School Coaches Association Putt Powell Sportswriter of the Year award and Texas Girls Coaches Association sportswriter of the year award.
She quit writing full-time while at the Houston Chronicle and became the Chronicle’s high school sports editor. Hornaday left the Chronicle in 2006 to concentrate on the growth of Grace Media, LLC.
